The not-so-secret life of kajal

Kajal has always been a little too interested in science and writing. When she joined the workforce, she threw the two together and became a medical copywriter. She has spent over a decade writing content to convince people that the drug she’s talking about is better than the competitor that does exactly the same thing.

Somewhere along the way, she returned to writing fiction since it gave her room to make outlandish claims without the need for citations or regulatory approval.

Things have gotten slightly out of hand and now, apparently, there is a full-blown novel.

As a professional copywriter, Kajal naturally had an entirely unwarranted amount of confidence in her writing skills. She KNEW anything she wrote was, of course, going to be a hit. (Don't stop reading. The wake-up call is coming.)

Kajal started with screenplays. She entered fifteen pages she'd written on a whim into a competition and, somehow, made the top ten and landed a place in a mentoring program. There was just one problem. Now she had to finish the screenplay. That's when Kajal learned the hard way that being able to write didn't mean she knew how to tell a story.

Now, more than a decade later, she has devoured everything she could find about the craft and written several screenplays, television pilots, short stories, plays, and a novel. She cringes at some of her earlier work now, but each one played a vital part in getting her here.
